Job Title:
Lighting Design Engineer Position Summary:

Responsible for preparing designs, specifications, and cost estimates for roadway, street, parking lot, and site lighting projects in alignment with company standards and specifications. This role also oversees and manages capital improvement and maintenance projects related to lighting infrastructure.

Primary Responsibilities:

Develop detailed lighting designs, plans, cost estimates, photometric analyses, and security lighting assessments. Collaborate with internal departments including Distribution Engineering, Transmission Engineering, and with external agencies such as the Florida Department of Transportation, as well as city and county government officials. Coordinate project requirements and timelines with developers, field personnel, contractors, and customers to ensure successful project execution. Apply engineering standards, specifications, legal codes, guidelines, and industry best practices to the design and construction of lighting systems. Participate in professional development activities such as conferences, seminars, webinars, and training to stay current with industry standards, regulations, and technologies. Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Knowledge:

Working knowledge (within one year of hire) of the following tools and applications: Photometric meters AutoCAD ePETS Familiarity with applicable legal guidelines, ordinances, engineering principles, and departmental procedures. Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with both internal and external stakeholders, including coordination with officials on policy enforcement and project requirements. Proficiency in performing mathematical calculations including fractions, decimals, ratios, percentages, and rates. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and standard office equipment.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university. Valid driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications:

One plus (1+) years of experience using AutoCAD, AGi32, Visual, or other lighting design software. Familiarity with ePETS project tracking software.
