Nightingale Lighting, introduced in 2024, is setting a new standard with innovative, market-disruptive lighting products for healthcare spaces. Drawing on decades of lighting expertise, Nightingale solutions combine the best design and illumination engineering to provide a patient-centric experience emphasizing wellness.
We’re seeking an experienced, hands-on mechanical engineer to join the Nightingale product development team to lead new product development projects from concept through production. This role reflects responsibility for all aspects of product development– from novel concept creation through detailed design, testing, documentation, and ultimately manufacturing release. The successful candidate will be creative, curious, and independent while effectively collaborating with all cross-functional members of the project team. This role works a hybrid schedule in Decatur, GA.
Primary Responsibilities Include
Product development from concept through production, including new product development, sustaining engineering support, and resolving field problems.
Using the product delivery (stage-gate) system, to lead mechanical product design, prototyping, and release to manufacturing, managing complex schedules including product test and evaluation programs.
Collaborating with and influencing cross-functional members of the product team.
Qualifications
A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology is required.
A proven track record of success in engineering lighting, appliances, consumer products, or a related manufacturing field of electro-mechanical products is required.
Proficiency in 3D CAD and Microsoft Office programs is required.
SolidWorks software proficiency and CAD data management experience are preferred.
Lifting items weighing up to 7 lbs based on business needs is required.
Able to work from the Decatur, GA facility based on business needs is required.
Able to travel domestically and internationally as needed for the role.

Experience in manufacturing operations and design for manufacturing with standard processes for part and assembly fabrication (sheet metal, machining, die casting, extrusion, etc.). Comfort on the factory floor.

Flexibility:

Demonstrates adaptability in ever-changing circumstances and is willing to reprioritize goals and expectations as projects evolve.

Hands-On:

Proficient with tools, techniques, and methods for fabricating and modifying prototype samples, mockups, and installations. Excited to work with physical material in design, development, and communication.

Operational Excellence:

Oversee the product development lifecycle from concept to launch, managing resources effectively and ensuring timely delivery.
