Job Summary:

The Design Engineer II would be responsible for engineering initiatives related to product design, product manufacturing, supply chain, and technical support for the L.B. Foster Transit Products Division, including internal and external customer support.

Essential Functions:

Responsible for designing products and systems to meet specific transit rail industry requirements, L.B Foster cost reduction initiatives and product roadmaps. Develop new product designs or modify existing products Lead internal review meetings to present and justify design selections Develop test program plans for product validation Create 2D and 3D CAD models to be used for product realization Provide technical support and solutions to internal customers. Support estimating team with specification review and BOM selection Support project managers with product drawings and technical submittals Support third party manufacturing with process design and optimization Lead first article inspection for product and manufacturing verification Provide technical support and solutions to external customer in coordination with L.B. Foster Sales team. Support transit agency sales calls and create technical proposals Help generate, modify, and influence technical specification and drawing criteria for transit agencies Responsible to manage and organize engineering document database including drawings, models, specifications, technical reports, communications, and

ISO 9001

compliance. 5-10% travel to manufacturing sites as needed.

Experience, Education, & License Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil or Electrical Engineering required. 2-4 years of experience in design engineering role required.

Skills & Abilities:

Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD (Solidworks preferred, AutoCAD, Inventor)

Desired:

Knowledgeable in the following materials and manufacturing processes: rubber and urethane molding, fiberglass molding, ductile iron casting, general machining
