Job Title Deployed Technical Manager Position Overview Shaw Industries is hiring a Deployed Technical Manager. This role focuses on developing and delivering products, processes, raw materials and new technologies in carpet manufacturing to provide a competitive advantage for Shaw. This focus may be internal and/or external to the carpet manufacturing facility.

Responsibilities:

Provides technical direction and support for the tuft, dye coating operations. This position will proactively engage with the manufacturing operations to provide support and implement improvement opportunities. This position is responsible for understanding the Shaw manufacturing processes, as well as the customers’ and market’s end use requirements of the products being produced. Understanding the quality critical aspects of the products and processes is essential. Six sigma tools should be utilized. This position is a liaison between the individual departments, plant management and various corporate groups including, but not limited to, Global Sourcing, Sustainability, Corporate Engineering, Quality Engineering and Product Development. Provides data, information and feedback, as well as technical support and assistance for issue resolution, product development, and process improvement. This position will directly interact with Sr. Management at the manufacturing facilities, as well as the plant floor. They will also interact with the Divisional Leadership Team. Provides continuity and stability in the carpet manufacturing process by creating and maintaining an ongoing education and training program for plant management, plant leadership, technicians, and operators. Responsible for leading/coordinating training on each of the carpet manufacturing processes on a routine basis. Responsible for communicating technical data/concepts to production areas. Responsible for proposing process options and determining optimal application levels and parameters. Work with necessary raw material suppliers to identify and develop new products as well as to resolve raw material non-conformances. Responsible for troubleshooting/consulting on process/equipment problems. Responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and optimizing process performance. Responsible for analyzing trends in off-quality, claims and product conformance, communicating to plant and department management. Manage trials of new raw materials or process changes, ensuring proper testing is conducted to meet product conformance. Develop processes and capability for new products and ensure product performance to branding requirements. Utilize Six Sigma and Lean tools to improve processes. Provide engineering support by troubleshooting quality/process problems to identify and implement solutions. Provide guidance to department managers and process engineers on the implementation of new processes or raw materials. Monitor and debug current and proposed methods and procedures to ensure system efficiency. Assist in planning, layout, installation and startup of new machinery and equipment. Interface with other manufacturing departments to address and resolve engineering technical issues. Work with Tufting, Dyeing, and Latex Manufacturing Managers and Engineers to support both incremental process improvement and innovative advancements. As needed, work with plant management, R D and CQE to develop new products and test methods to ensure product performance. Routinely audit departmental testing (both on-line and finished) to ensure test method and frequency are sufficient and effective. Work with plant and corporate EHS groups to meet corporate guidelines for compliance.

4-year degree required. Engineering, Technical, or Science Degree preferred. 5 years’ experience in carpet or support industry desired.
