FUNCTIONAL REPORTING

Manufacturing PositionSummary This position will serve as the liaison betweenManufacturing and Manufacturing Engineering and other functionalgroups including design engineering, quality, and customer service.

Responsible for creating the methods and sequence of manufacturingoperations for intricate and/or complex machined parts andassemblies that meet design and quality requirements. Work withcell management, tool design, and cutting tool improvements.

Provide manufacturability input and manufacturing plans for productdesign or modification. Work on continuous improvement projectsthat support the Lean Manufacturing methodology such as set-upreduction and Kaizen events. Principal Activities Develop andprepare complete processes and routes for machined parts tomeet/exceed the organizational goals of scrap and lead timeEvaluates processes by conducting process analysis, applyingknowledge of manufacturing processes such as milling, grinding,turning, and heat treating, conferring with suppliers, andsoliciting observations from operators/production techniciansDetermine, design and implement fixtures, and gages for machinedparts Determines root cause of failures using statistical methods(e.g. design of experiment, statistical process control) that mayresult in changes in design, tolerances, or processing methods Workon continuous improvement projects, set-up reduction, TPM, 5S thatsupport the Lean Manufacturing methodology Evaluate product designsfor manufacturability An understanding of drafting standards andgeometric dimension and tolerance and ability to utilize readingpart drawings Maintains professional and technical knowledge byattending educational workshops, reviewing publications,establishing industry networks, bench-marking state-of-the-artpractices, and/or participating in professional associations

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge Skills & Abilities Excel, Word,PowerPoint, Project, AutoCAD or similar design software experienceis required. 3D modeling experience is a plus. Ability to solvepractical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables insituations where only limited standardization exists. Ability tointerpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral,diagram, or schedule form. Ability to work with mathematicalconcepts such as probability and statistical inference, andfundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Abilityto apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, andproportions to practical situations. Ability to read and interpretdocuments such as part drawings, assembly drawings, safety rules,operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability tospeak effectively before groups of customers or associates oforganization. Education & Experience 1-3 years experience in aManufacturing environment is required. Some experience with basicprogramming required. Commitment to obtaining futurecertifications/degrees as assigned to develop to next level
