Assembly Engineer Job Description This position involves ensuring safety, quality, productivity, and cost reduction in automotive or high-volume manufacturing. The role includes working with other engineers to schedule projects, maintain and troubleshoot equipment, minimize accidents, and improve efficiency through ergonomic solutions. You will use electronic, air, and battery tools to visualize and specify tooling, fixtures, and designs using AutoCAD or Inventor. Responsibilities Provide engineering support for the production shop to help meet KPI targets for Safety, Quality, Productivity, and Cost. Supply tooling, jigs, equipment, or resources to production to ensure vehicles are built to design specifications. Collaborate across departments to determine root causes and obtain support for implementing corrective measures (C/M’s). Lead projects for new parts, tooling, poka-yoke, or equipment installation. Lead Kaizen activities to improve process capability or workability. Coordinate and lead cross-department investigations and develop corrective measures for design-related Safety and Quality issues. Investigate and assess current conditions to make decisions on appropriate corrective measures for complex production issues. Qualifications 1-3+ years of experience in automotive or high-volume manufacturing. BS in an engineering discipline, preferably Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial. Strong communication and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio, etc.). Ability to read vehicle and equipment blueprints/drawings and manuals. Automotive assembly experience is a plus. Experience in process engineering, mechanical engineering, and manufacturing processes. Knowledge of continuous improvement, Six Sigma, and production equipment reliability. Experience with AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor.
