Controls Engineer 5.0 5.0 out of 5 stars Raleigh, NC 27629 Our Client is seeking a motivated Controls Engineer to join their growing engineering team. In this role, you’ll assist in the design, development, programming of control systems used in manufacturing and automation environments. You’ll work alongside senior engineers to gain hands-on experience with PLCs, HMI’s, and more.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Contribute to the full lifecycle of automation projects—from concept and electrical design to programming and commissioning Write and test PLC code (Rockwell/Allen-Bradley or Siemens) for custom machinery and systems Develop user-friendly
HMI/SCADA
interfaces for operators and technicians Collaborate with electricians and mechanical engineers during equipment build and debug phases Travel to client sites (occasionally) to perform system installations, I/O checkout, and onsite troubleshooting Assist with creating documentation packages: wiring diagrams, control narratives, and bill of materials What You Bring to the
Table:
3+ years of relevant experience in industrial automation or control system design (school projects, co-ops, or apprenticeships count!) Familiarity with programming PLCs using Ladder Logic or Structured Text Some experience with HMI development tools (e.g., FactoryTalk View, Ignition, or WinCC) Comfortable working from electrical drawings and understanding basic panel layouts You like problem-solving, aren’t afraid to ask questions, and thrive in hands-on environments
It’d Be Great If You Also Had:
Experience configuring industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, or Profinet) Exposure to motion control systems, VFDs, or robotics Basic understanding of UL/NEC standards for industrial control panels Interest in learning new tools (Python, Ignition SCADA, or cloud-connected systems) What’s in It for
