Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced SeniorDesign Engineer to lead the development of advanced mechanicalcomponents and brazed assemblies for aerospace and defenseapplications. This individual will be responsible for conceptdevelopment, detailed design, DFM/DFA optimization, and supportthroughout the product lifecycle, with an emphasis on engineeredbrazed joints and precision-machined components.
KeyResponsibilities:
- Lead mechanical design efforts for machinedparts and brazed assemblies using CAD tools.
- Apply engineeringfundamentals to develop robust, lightweight, andthermally/mechanically efficient designs compliant with aerospaceand defense standards.
- Define and develop joint designs forhigh-temperature brazing, ensuring joint geometry, clearances, andmaterial compatibility meet design and manufacturing requirements.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with manufacturing, quality, andmaterials engineering to ensure designs are manufacturable andcost-effective.
- Generate and maintain complete engineeringdocumentation, including drawings, BOMs, specifications, and testplans.
- Conduct FEA and tolerance analysis to validate designperformance and durability under operating conditions (thermal,structural, vibrational).
- Lead or contribute to design reviews,root cause investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
- Interface with customers and suppliers on technical issues, designintent, and product requirements.
- Ensure all designs adhere toapplicable industry regulations and standards.
Skills andQualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering,Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- 7 years of experiencein mechanical design within the aerospace and/or defense industry.
- Proven expertise in designing components involving precisionmachining, tight tolerances, and high-temperature brazed joints.
- Strong understanding of GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, and CNCmachining processes (milling, turning, grinding).
- Proficiencywith 3D CAD tools and FEA software.
- Familiarity with AS9100,ITAR, and aerospace customer specifications.
- Excellentcommunication skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams.
- Experience with vacuum or dip brazing process design.
- Exposureto heat transfer and thermal stress analysis for high-temperatureapplications.
- Background in defense contracting or experienceworking with DoD primes (e.g., Raytheon, Lockheed Martin).
- Working knowledge of manufacturing process validation and firstarticle inspection (FAI).
