Function of Position:

Instructors prepare and teach courses in the department, develop new educational materials, and assist with the assessment of student learning, as appropriate. Classes are at Downtown Campus or online or hybrid modality, as needed. Instructors report to the Advanced Manufacturing Manager. The successful candidate will bring a passion for teaching and a desire to support and mentor MCC students as they pursue educational and career goals. •This is a temporary, part-time position•

Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:

Demonstrates and maintains current subject area knowledge. Teaches courses and evaluates student performance in Advanced Manufacturing as per guidelines set by the department and Monroe Community College. Teaches course(s)/section(s), as outlined by the contract and as available. Prepares lesson plans and creates instructional materials and activities for student engagement. Prepares Course Information Sheet/Syllabus/Outlines in accordance with department and College guidelines. Establishes and maintains an engaging and supportive classroom environment. Maintains student attendance records, grades, and other records according to department and College guidelines and submits them in a timely manner. Assists department with student retention and completion initiatives. Use Amatrol eLearning Software and Trainers as a part of delivering course material Register students for Amatrol licenses and SACA Testing Performs other duties and responsibilities assigned by the department chair, as appropriate.

Job Requirements:
Required Qualifications:

Earned associate’s degree in technical field or possess micro credentials and/or certifications in related technical field, or related field experience from a regionally accredited higher education institution with 3 years’ experience or a minimum 10-years’ experience in appropriate industrial setting. Thorough knowledge of the principles, terminology, tools and equipment used in the given trade. Commitment to supporting an equitable, inclusive environment on campus.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Automation, Electromechanical, Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or closely related degree from a regionally-accredited higher education institution. Controls and automation experience with Robots, PLCs, VFDs, Hydraulics, Pneumatics, HMIs, Ethernet Communications and other electromechanical devices (over two years). Teaching or Industry Trainer experience in the manufacturing assembly and food/liquid processing areas are preferred. Knowledge of, or experience in, implementing a variety of teaching strategies. Awareness of the potential value of technology as a tool for teaching. Experience with computerized student record management. Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently.

Additional Information:
Hourly Rate:

Hourly Rate is determined based on experience, internal equity and college budget. This position has a range of $40 to $50 hourly and is based on these mentioned factors.

Work Schedule:

Dependent on course offer. Typical class could be 2 to 3 classes per week (each 4 hours long) and can range from 2 to 4 months. The exact days of the week and overall length of the entire course offering will be spelled out in a Letter of Agreement. MCC offers a Flexible Work Policy for benefit eligible employees. Types of flexible work arrangements include flextime/staggered shifts, remote work/telecommuting and compressed work schedule. The availability of flexible work arrangements varies by division, department, and position, based upon business and operational needs. Limitations to flexible work arrangements are outlined in the official policy.
