Corning’s DisplayTechnologies segment manufactures glass substrates for activematrix liquid crystal displays (“LCDs”) that are used primarily inLCD televisions, notebook computers and flat panel desktopmonitors. Scope of Position Member of the Melting design teamresponsible for the detailed design of Display Technologies MeltingProcess equipment, ranging from initial concept stage to finaldesign approval and implementation including repairs, expansionsfabrication, check-out at vendors, technology improvements ofexisting platforms, and follow-up to ensure that all quality, costand safety requirements are met. Project support for the keyinitiatives for the division. Focus will be on implementation ofrobust, cost-effective process machine systems in Corning’smanufacturing plants Supporting equipment rebuilds by creating andtracking scope of work documents, bills of material, and equipmentorders. Supporting equipment checkouts at suppliers and equipmentinstallation in the plants. Decision making and technicalrepresentation for the Melting group at Design Reviews, PotentialProblem Analysis reviews, technical summits, as well as theeveryday design issues common within the department. Identify andevaluate multiple options for solving complex technical issues andthoroughly supporting his/her technical solution. KeyResponsibilities Process equipment design and drawing detailingEngineering calculations and reports Providing daily technicalguidance to peers FEA modeling of structural / thermal systemsEvaluating the viability of incoming design changes Activelyparticipating in design reviews Reporting to supervision of trends,decisions, and test results Interacting with domestic andinternational operation sites Adherence to department drawing andfile standards. 40% combined local, national and internationaltravel Experiences/Education – Required BS Mechanical Engineeringor equivalent discipline 3 years related experience in equipmentdesign role Practical 3D CAD experience and proficiency, SolidWorksexperience preferred Familiarity with mechanical and thermalanalysis Knowledge of standard machining processes Good projectmanagement skills Successful experience working in a teamenvironment Effective leadership, organization, and planningskills, with ability to handle changing priorities Excellentcommunications, interpersonal and influencing skills Demonstratedtrack record of on time delivery within budget; ability to driveprojects to successful conclusion using influencing tools Abilityto lead international teams across multiple initiatives that spanvarious lines of business, geographic borders, time zones, andcultures Must be a self-starter, able to work in team environmentand motivate others Experiences/Education – Desired Technicalunderstanding of heat transfer systems and structures GeometricDimensioning & Tolerancing proficiency 2D CAD proficiency, AutoCADexperience preferred Project leadership Capable of interacting withplant operators, contract vendors and leading the installation ofproposed mechanical systems Manufacturing plant experienceMaterials science experience Familiarity with metal and ceramicfabrication processes Strong verbal and written communicationskills This position does not support immigration sponsorship. Therange for this position is $78,415.00 – $107,821.00 assuming fulltime status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependenton a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited togeographic location, market demands, experience, training, andeducation.
