Job Description:

Job Summary The Design Engineer is responsible for supporting Nordson’s existing products for our worldwide markets. The Design Engineer must have excellent communication skills as this position will also locally represent and liaise between the remote product sustaining engineering department and the onsite production facility. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leads and manages the execution of projects centered on product design, product enhancements, and supply chain initiatives.
  • Leads and performs product maintenance and engineering changes in support of quality, manufacturing improvements and supply chain changes.
  • Leads and performs design calculations and/or analysis required for design of components or systems. Calculations and/or analysis may include stress analysis, force/load/deflection on mechanical parts and air flow/pressure calculations for pneumatic components and/or systems.
  • Leads and supports customer quality requests through Corrective Action Preventative Action (CAPA) process as needed.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams (i.e., marketing, purchasing, and manufacturing) to drive activities and tasks to completion and on-time.
  • Utilizes basic and advanced Lean/CI tools to drive sustainable product and process improvements and solutions.
  • Collaborate with local Operations and the remote product sustaining engineering department. Education and Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering – Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Required
  • 3-7 years of product design engineering experience preferred.
  • Prior experience working in Capital Equipment or Manufacturing, preferred. Skills and Abilities
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in Product Design and Enhancements
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in Root Cause Analysis / Problem Solving Methods (A3, 8-D, PDCA, DMAIC)
  • Knowledge of Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Materials, and Fastening Methods central to mechanical designs and products
  • Experience with SolidWorks preferred.
  • Experience with GD&T methodology and knowledge in ANSI requirements preferred.
  • Excellent Project Management skills
  • Ability to work effectively on multiple projects and activities.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Highly motivated self-starter who can work with minimal supervision.
  • Detail oriented with strong analytical abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Product Compliance, Certifications and Regulations (REACH, RoHS, WEEE) knowledge preferred.
  • Experience with SAP or an ERP System.
