- 3 days on-site 6 month contract to hire This person will be involved with the standup of a new manufacturing facility in Columbia, SC.
The person in this role will work directly with the Operational Technology (OT) team—the group responsible for the technology and systems that control and monitor physical processes in the plant. Looking for a Manufacturing-focused Technical Architect (TA) with working knowledge in PLC, HMI, and MES. This person is not a programmer, but has a level of understanding to know what interface need to be designed. They will work at the intersection of IT and industrial operations. Design & Architect Manufacturing Systems Architect and design the technical landscape for manufacturing systems—especially automation and control systems. Design and define solutions that integrate PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers), HMI (Human-Machine Interfaces), and MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) with enterprise IT systems (e.g., ERP). Design and define interfaces between PLCs/HMIs and MES, and between MES and ERP (like SAP or Oracle). Ensure seamless communication between plant-floor equipment and business systems. Migrate legacy applications from old environment to new Greenfield environment with Active Directory Put together the detailed physical diagrams of entire environment. Very granular/detail level Server Summary, product/licenses, floor plans, Implementation Strategy, rack layouts, cooling and power, ‘plug this service into this network port,’ Firewall ports/containers, physical connections; IP addressing, Design notes, Virtual Guest Summary, configuration settings Close interaction with the plant’s IOT teams Looking for strong documentation to be able to provide detailed physical diagrams of entire environment. Design experience with planning and implementation experience. This person is a technical architect designing and integrating the systems that run manufacturing operations. They understand both the automation hardware/software and how it connects to the broader IT ecosystem, enabling efficient, modern, and connected manufacturing environments.
