Must be able to commute to Bolton Job Description In this position you will produces machined parts by setting up and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies. The primary purpose of the CNC Machinist is to function as a machinist engaged in the machining and repair of components for mold re-assembly purposes. The CNC Machinist is responsible for independent machine setup, first piece validation and exceptional quality. The CNC Machinist will offer technical knowledge and feedback in process planning for new parts by working with scheduling and engineering and should be able to navigate through the programming of the machine to adjust feeds and speeds to optimize part quality and efficiency. In this position you will prepare and operate multiple CNC machines to perform tasks such as turning, milling, grinding, etc. to within close tolerances. In addition, you will produce & rework high quality parts and materials by running/programming machines to perform the proper operations and by reading and interpreting blueprints.
Responsibilities:
Manufacture used parts according to drawings within pre-defined tolerance limits. Configure CNC mills by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs. Set up and maintain tooling in peak condition. Loads machine with work pieces. Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces Maintains specifications by observing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; editing programs; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes, ensuring all parts are to spec prior to taking off machine. Meets production goals in terms of cycle time, quantity, and quality. Take care of the equipment, the set-up and the programming of our CNC machine center. Regular inspection of machinery and shop equipment to ensure precise, correct and safe performance Ability to work from mechanical drawings, client specifications, and oral or written instructions Ability to exercise judgement in determining the techniques and methods used. Alerting Lead Hand and/or Manager to any deficiencies Supporting repairs/ maintenance as required Daily recording of time spent Noting inventory items and miscellaneous shop supplies to be re-ordered Maintaining order of the workstation & shop. Training as required Miscellaneous tasks as assigned
Qualifications:
Certificate of Qualifications in one of the following fields: General Machinist, Mold Maker, Tool and Die Maker Certificate of Qualifications in one of the following fields: General Machinist 429A License preferred Tool and Die Maker – Red Seal Certification Industrial Millwright 433A License 4-6 years + of CNC Machining experience required Established experience programming and operating CNC machine tools in combination with expertise using the machine relevant software. Proven experience in conventional machining or successful completed apprenticeship program in CNC milling with some years of working experience in similar position. Previous work experience using hand tools and measuring tools Inspection experience; CMM operation an asset You should have good knowledge in drawing reading – knowledge of GD&T is considered an asset. Demonstrated experience with a broad spectrum of the metalworking machinery and suite of skills applicable to the machining / fabricating trades Excellent client service and communication skills, applicable to diverse groups including staff and leadership. Demonstrated organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills Knowledge in MS Office (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook) is considered an asset. Experience with Fanuc controls an asset Experience with multi axis heads an asset Thorough knowledge of metallurgy principals related to materials typically used. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Detailed, precise, and accurate at all levels of interaction. Mechanically inclined with fixture development experience. Ability to hold tight tolerances during machining for re-assembly. Working in a fast paced / team environment.
