Job Description

Bollinger Mississippi Shipbuilding Quality Specialist 2138 in Pascagoula
, Mississippi

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE

(YEARS)
Five (5) years of manufacturing, shipyard, or quality (testing and inspecting) experience preferred.

MINIMUM SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge to inspect three (3) or more of the following areas: welding, machining, painting (coating), piping, mechanical, and testing.
Utilize more than visual inspection and testing techniques, such as NDE inspections including Radiographic film interpretation, Liquid Penetrate Testing (PT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), or Ultrasonic Thickness Gauging (UT).
Ability to read and interpret codes and specifications, and advanced blueprint reading.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND JOB FUNCTIONS

Examines materials or products for surface defects, such as cracks, pits, and incomplete welds.
Compares product with parts list or sample model to ensure completion of assembly.
Verifies specified dimensions of product or material, using inspection equipment.
Rejects defective parts, and marks type of defect on part, container of parts, or inspection tag.
Test products for structural defects, such as leaks and internal cracks, using water pressure tests.
Test mechanisms for clearance and freedom of movement.
Assists the Testing and Trials department personnel with systems testing and sea trials.
Performs other duties as specified by the Quality Assurance Manager.
Construction photos.
Develops inspection plans for new construction.
Must be able to work in confined/enclosed spaces.
Must be able to work/climb in elevations greater than 5′.
Must be able to wear/work a respirator when applicable.
Must follow all Company policies and procedures, including those relative to employee safety, environmental
policy, and the principles of our quality system.
Other duties assigned or requested by Management.
Works overtime as required.
Reports to work daily and on time.
