Job Description
PRIMARY FUNCTION
Operate machinery and equipment to used to encapsulate one or more optical fibers for the purpose of providing mechanical isolation, protection from physical damage, and fiber identification.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Load, and unload fiber reels to string up loose tube process lines.2.Monitor the loose tube process for any potential quality defects and document all required data within the SAP database system.3.Perform all required quality control checks and inspections to assure the product being manufactured is meeting all required specifications.4.Read the design and run process per the SOP ensuring safety precautions are taken and ensures that quality product is being produced.5.Maintain a clean and safe work environment. Identify any potential safety hazards to Supervisor, or other members of management to.6.Completes all operator Preventative Maintenance (PM) duties on a daily or routine basis.7.Adhere to all company policies, procedures, rules, and regulations in effect.8.Must complete and maintain all required paperwork necessary in the operation including DMR, inspection sheets, tally sheets, and disposition.9.Use various hand tools necessary to set-up and operate all equipment and machinery involved in the buffering process.10.Adhere to all personal protective equipment requirements as specified in company policies including but not limited to use of safety glasses with side shields in designated areas, protective gloves when handling heated surfaces and inks and solvents.11.Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
1.Must be able to read, write, and comprehend the English language (i.e., the language of all plant directives) for required document control, equipment operation, and supervisor/peer instructions.2.Must perform simple mathematics to be able to understand process sheets, masters, and SOP manuals, and to be able to keep accurate accounts of materials produced, scrapped, issued, and returned to and from stock.3.Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. Must be able to roll, push, or pull cables/reels of varying sizes.
