Summary & Qualifications:

Summary Duties include teaching and delivering curriculum at all levels within the Welding Service Technology program, including following the American Welding society (AWS) standards are met, and coordinating partnerships with local and national industry contacts. Teaching responsibilities includes the possibility of teaching night and weekend courses.

Qualifications Required:

Associate’s degree in Welding or related Technology field
Minimum of 2 years/ teaching or training in the welding field
Minimum of 4 years’ experience as a certified welder, welding technician, management of a welding service provider or welding equipment provider
Qualified (certified) American Welding Society (AWS) welder

Preferred:

Bachelor degree in education or a technical program
Three or more years teaching at the college level
Experience in developing a curriculum or training materials in the welding area
Experience in the robotic and welding automation
Qualified (certified) American Welding Society (AWS) pipe welder
Two or more years’ industry involvement (committees, standards, advocacy, etc.)
American Welding Society (AWS) member Essential Responsibilities Provide classroom/lab instruction to students and develop theory including but not limited to online, accelerated, livestream, hybrid and face-to-face formats Instructor responsibilities Teach a full load in the Welding Technology Program, including:
Stay current in the field by attending approved training as per AWS requirements
Promote the Welding Technology Program through recruitment activities
Advise and enroll Welding Technology students
Participate in committee work per the NMC mission statement
Build workable schedules for students, faculty and staff
Class schedule may require nights and/or weekends Supervisory Responsibilities None Teaching Responsibilities When teaching any classroom or lab courses, the instructor will meet the responsibilities of regular faculty in the areas of Curriculum, Teaching Effectiveness, Faculty Professional Development, Support of College, Community Initiatives, and Professional Qualities and Abilities. Compiles, administers, and grades examinations and other learning activities
Uses current and emerging technologies in distance learning and in the classroom; conducts classroom research with classroom assessment techniques
Listens to students and coaches them to actively participate in the learning process
Uses a variety of assessments to promotes student demonstration of learning through exams, discussions, debates, presentations, simulations, and/or debriefings
Provides a course syllabus to the students that includes the College Syllabus information outlined in Moodle
Is accessible to students during formal office hours and other times as needed
Maintains and regularly updates Moodle gradebook and/or other electronic grading systems Faculty Professional Development Continually engages in learning and scholarship in the area of specialization Support of College, Community Initiatives Participates actively in the shared governance system
Participates in dental assistant and academic area meetings and other scheduled area activities including participating in writing and supporting accreditation standards
Meets requirements for faculty evaluation and academic advising
Serves on specific academic area and College wide committees
Supports the academic area and college through other work normally expected of faculty members
