Job Title:

Quality Engineer Job Description This position involves identifying and recommending design or manufacturing changes and enhancements. The role requires working closely with welders and weld engineers to establish proper welding techniques and qualifications. Utilizing AWS and other associated welding procedures, the candidate will determine technical objectives for quality assurance and approaches to completing projects. Responsibilities Recommend design, dimensional, or manufacturing process changes to improve products and reduce costs. Devise and implement methods and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment. Participate in functional testing and inspection of equipment and systems. Audit quality systems for deficiency identification and correction per AS9100. Implement solutions to complex problems occurring internally and at vendor facilities. Prepare statistical analysis reports, specifications, and other technical documents. Interpret and adapt quality standards and government regulations. Act as the company contact with suppliers, customers, and regulatory personnel to resolve quality issues. Deliver technical presentations. Provide project direction to other staff members. Ensure compliance with all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations. Essential Skills 5 years of experience with a bachelor’s degree or 11 years with an associate’s degree. Detailed understanding of inspection methods. Strong knowledge of computer operations and applications. Thorough understanding of welding procedures, qualifications, and technical requirements. Experience with AWS and other welding procedures. Experience with AS9100 quality systems. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in shipbuilding or shipyards. Analytical ability to develop creative solutions to complex quality issues. Detail-oriented to accurately prepare statistical reports and technical documents. Strong leadership skills to direct staff and ensure project costs and schedules are maintained. Ability to deliver effective technical presentations. Work Environment This position is located onsite at the Tupelo, MS location. The work environment is cross-functional, involving collaboration with the welding team department to establish proper welding techniques and qualifications.
