- OnsiteOpportunityThis position worksas the Materials Engineer on the engineering team in the Huntsvillefacility.
- The materials engineer is tasked with improving theplant materials and material processes and equipment, to keep ourmanufacturing facility as current and efficient as possible tomaintain our competitive position in the market.
- Consistentlydevelops and applies advanced theories, methods, and researchtechniques in the investigation and solution of complex andadvanced technical problems with new technologies.
- Analyzes,evaluates, and plans methods of approach to and organize a means toachieve the solution of complex technical problemsSpecificResponsibilities This position serves as the Materials Engineer within theKohler-Huntsville facility.
- Optimizes material formulations and components for safety,quality, cost, and delivery improvements.
- Manages formulation andraw material change process including evaluation, approval, andimplementation process. Maintain and improve as needed material formulations, operatingprocedures, etc. to help meet and exceed safety, quality, cost,production, and other department objectives.
- Maintain goals for the SMC manufacturing department and workswith the manufacturing and engineering teams to develop andimplement specific improvement plans to help meet objectives,primarily pertaining to scrap and material performance.
Provides technical support to production teams related totroubleshooting of process or product issues, especially as itpertains to materials and formulation. Provide material engineering support and project managementrelated to new products and process implementation. Initiate, develop and implement continuous improvement projectsin support of plant manufacturing initiatives, objectives, andimprovements needed.
- Conduct feasibility studies to ensure that implementation ofproposed improvements would meet objectives with respect to safety,quality, market demands, competitive costs, and general financialcriteria. Participate and manage as needed cost reduction initiativesthrough Kaizen events, six sigma project support, engineeringproject leadership and support.
- Continually lead and teach best practices for materialhandling, etc. Additional deliverables as assigned. Trained in all applicable SOPs, LOPs, policies, andprocedures. Skills/Requirements Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline from an ABETaccredited engineering program.
- Chemical, Materials, or MaterialsScience Engineering degree preferred.
- Four or more years of relative work experience.
- Past results include successful technical leadership on a majorproject. Experience with SMC, compression molding aplus.#L1-DS1#L1-Onsite The salary range for this position is $89,800
