The Engineering Mechanics and Infrastructure group at Simpson Gumpertz & Heger (SGH) has built a solid foundation for advanced engineering services based on experience withplex engineering analyses and design, frequently supported by materials evaluation. Special areas of expertise include failure analysis, wind effects, seismic analysis, soil-structure interaction, dynamic and blast response, structural plastics,posites, metallurgy, and corrosion analysis.

A successful candidate for EMI may work on projects related to buildings, bridges, pipelines, nuclear facilities, tanks, rail vehicles, rotating equipment, precision observatory structures, and other non-building structures and systems.
What You’ll Be Doing:
The candidate will be one of the primary staff in materials science and engineering within Simpson Gumpertz & Heger, Inc. They will participate in projects that have materials (primarily metals, polymers, andposites) as one of the main issues.
These types of projects include:
the evaluation and specification of materials and processes for new design; investigation of existing materials applications, failure analysis; and the development of repair rmendations. Applications include structuralponents and industrial andmercial products. The candidate will be expected to manage tasks,municate with clients, prepare written reports and presentations, and conduct laboratory and field studies.
Provide support in selecting materials for structural, mechanical, and building applications.
Conduct failure analysis of metals, concrete, polymers,posites and other structural materials.
Plan and conduct site investigations to document existing conditions.
Prepare and present reports and presentations to clients.
Manage and conduct laboratory tests and analyses.
What You’ll Need:
M.S. or PhD in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Structural Engineering, or similar and background of academic excellence.
0 to 5 years of experience in materials science and engineering.
Coursework in structural mechanics and design is preferred.
Strong oral and writtenmunication skills.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Ability to travel to remote job sites not accessible by public transportation.
Valid driver’s license and acceptable Motor Vehicle , if applicable.

Compensation:
Anticipated annual base salary: $73,320 – $89,440. This range is a good faith estimate pursuant to applicable equal pay and pay transparency laws. The actual salary offered will be based on several factors including the candidate’s experience and qualifications, education, and work location. Base salary is a part of SGH’s industry leading Total Compensation package. Our Total Compensation package includes base salary, pay for extra hours worked, an annual discretionary bonus program, generous paid time off, and health and wellness benefits with a special emphasis on substantial SGH contributions to medical insurance premiums and SGH’s Profit Sharing & 401(k) Plan.
