Interpret engineering drawings, weld symbols, and blueprints to determine weld specifications, tolerances, and sequencing. Program robotic welding paths and adjust process parameters to ensure weld quality and tight dimensional tolerances , often within ±0.005″ or tighter depending on part specifications. Inspect completed welds using visual methods, gauges, calipers, and NDT techniques to ensure compliance with

AWS D17.1 , MIL-STD-2219

, and other aerospace/defense standards. Work closely with engineering, quality, and CNC teams to develop and refine robotic welding procedures for both prototype and production runs. Ensure all welding operations conform to AS9100 and

ISO 9001

quality management systems and documentation requirements. Identify process inefficiencies and support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance weld precision, repeatability, and cycle time. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to all OSHA and company-specific safety protocols.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED required; technical school or certification in welding, robotics, or manufacturing technology preferred. Minimum 3 years of experience in robotic welding within a precision manufacturing environment—defense or aerospace experience strongly preferred. Proven experience welding to tight tolerances and high-precision requirements in high-performance materials (e.g., titanium, Inconel, aluminum alloys). Proficiency in GMAW, GTAW, and robotic welding process setup and calibration. Familiarity with AWS and military standards such as

AWS D17.1, AWS

D1.1, and

MIL-STD-2219.

Demonstrated ability to read and interpret detailed blueprints and GD&T specifications.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift and maneuver components up to 50 lbs. Capable of standing, bending, and working in confined welding cells for extended periods. Must pass visual acuity test and welding performance certification to company standards.

Preferred Skills:

Experience with automated welding of thin-gauge materials and weldments requiring post-weld machining. Familiarity with Industry 4.0 systems, real-time process monitoring, and digital manufacturing workflows. Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen participation is a plus.
