Education & Training Required:
+ S. or M.S. in Material Science & Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related discipline. + Six Sigma Black/Green Belt or related certification preferred. + Statistical data analysis using JMP, Mini-Tab, or related software preferred. + Continuous improvement and lean manufacturing methodologies preferred. + Proficient with Microsoft Office.
Experience Required:
+ 5+ year process or product engineering industrial experience related to metals manufacturing + Working knowledge of wrought metals processing and equipment (i.e., melting, press forging, radial forging, hot rolling, conditioning, heat treatment, testing, etc.). + Possesses an understanding and ability to clearly explain metallurgical principles critical to metals processing Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities typically required to perform the essential functions of this job. + Strong background in metals, wrought processing, and physical/mechanical metallurgy + Technical writing and oral presentations. + Eager to become a technical expert and primary point of contact in area of responsibility. + Comfortable being on the shop floor observing processes and interfacing with operations. + Ability to communicate complex technical concepts and requirements to shop floor personnel as well as senior management. + Self-starter and ability to work independently as well as on a team. + Utilizes scientifically rigorous, data driven approach to problem solving. + Embraces root cause problem solving and carefully considers the risks associated with enacting long-term countermeasures.
