Job Description:

The Columbia, SC office of Schnabel Engineering is seeking an Engineering Technician-Construction Materials Testing, to join our growing practice. We are looking for a motivated candidate with attention to detail, a passion to continue to develop as a professional, and a desire to be part of a strong team.

Job Responsibilities:

Field observation and testing during placement of construction materials including soil, concrete, asphalt, masonry, reinforcing steel, and sprayed-on fireproofing Preparation of reports documenting observations and test results Communication with contractors and engineers to discuss observations and test results

Required Skills/Experience:

High School degree Valid Driver’s License Possess good oral, written, communication, and organizational skills Able to perform rudimentary mathematic computations Attentive to detail Interest in working outdoors on construction sites Candidates must be able to lift 50 – 75 pounds on an occasional basis and be physically able to negotiate construction sites, climb ladders and work outside Prior experience on construction projects is preferred (2+ years)

Ability to pass a background check which may include criminal history, motor vehicle record and credit check Ability to pass a pre-employment screening The compensation range for an Engineering Technician is between $18/hr to $27.50/hr.
