Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Mechanical Designer – Piping with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience to support engineering and design efforts for power generation facilities, including new construction, retrofits, and environmental projects. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in mechanical piping systems, 3D modeling, and producing detailed engineering deliverables in compliance with industry standards and safety practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop 3D piping and equipment layouts using design tools such as AutoPLANT and/or AVEVA for power generation and heavy industrial projects. Generate 2D orthographic and isometric drawings , including P&IDs , pipe support drawings , and general piping arrangements. Collaborate with engineers and multi-disciplinary design teams to produce safe, efficient, and constructible designs. Apply knowledge of industry codes and standards (e.g., ASME, ANSI, etc.) to ensure design compliance. Conduct field visits to gather dimensional and technical data needed to support design development and verification. Participate in design checks to verify accuracy and adherence to project specifications. Prepare material take-offs (MTOs) from drawings and models for procurement and construction planning. Support multiple concurrent projects , ensuring high-quality and timely deliverables. Maintain organized project documentation and track design revisions. Foster effective communication with plant personnel, engineers, and vendors to ensure clarity in design intent and implementation.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical piping design in power generation or similar heavy industrial environments. Proficient in 3D modeling tools such as AutoPLANT and/or AVEVA. Demonstrated experience in producing 2D piping drawings , isometrics , P&IDs , and pipe support layouts . Strong understanding of piping components, materials, routing, and supports in industrial systems. Familiarity with relevant codes and standards (e.g., ASME
B31.1/B31.3
). Experience conducting design reviews and preparing material take-offs . Ability to handle multiple large-scale projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. Excellent teamwork, organizational , and communication skills. Self-motivated with a strong commitment to design excellence and accuracy.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate’s Degree or higher in Mechanical Design, Engineering Technology, or related field. Experience with laser scanning and point cloud data integration in piping design. Familiarity with construction practices in power plants or industrial facilities.
