Larson is seeking an experienced Piping Designer to develop high-quality 2D and 3D piping designs for heavy industrial projects across industries including pulp & paper, chemical processing, power generation, and manufacturing. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in piping layouts, mechanical equipment arrangement, and pipe support design using advanced design software platforms. Description The Piping Designer will collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams to create accurate and constructible piping designs using 2D and 3D software platforms. This position requires demonstrated experience producing detailed equipment layouts, pipe routing, pipe support details, and fabrication drawings for process and mechanical systems. The successful candidate will play a key role in site data collection, field verification, and 3D scanning, ensuring design accuracy and constructability. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in industrial piping systems, strong proficiency in Plant 3D, and a proactive approach to solving design challenges. This position offers the opportunity to be involved in all phases of design projects from concept development through construction. Specific Responsibilities include Develop 2D and 3D piping models, equipment layouts, pipe routing, and pipe support designs for industrial process systems. Create detailed general arrangement drawings, piping isometrics, spool drawings, fabrication drawings, and pipe support details. Utilize AutoCAD Plant 3D, Navisworks, Revit, Faro Scene, ReCap, and other 3D design platforms to create complete construction-ready documents. Perform field verifications of new designs and existing conditions, including operating 3D scanning equipment and processing point cloud data. Gather and interpret existing site information, integrating field data into accurate design models. Coordinate with project engineers, vendors, and contractors to ensure design integrity and constructability. Assist with onsite construction support and design clarifications during project execution. Support multiple projects concurrently while maintaining quality and meeting deadlines. Travel to client sites as needed (~20%). Skills/Qualifications Completion of Technical College Curriculum in design/drafting or equivalent experience. Minimum 5+ years of piping design experience, preferably within heavy industrial or process plant environments. Proficient in 2D and 3D piping design, pipe routing, equipment layout, and pipe support detailing. Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD Plant 3D and familiarity with other 3D design tools (Revit, Navisworks, Faro Scene, ReCap, etc.). Solid understanding of process equipment (pumps, tanks, heat exchangers, piping components, pipe supports, etc.). Knowledge of relevant piping codes and design standards for industrial facilities. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple design tasks. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
