The role ensures that the design product and engineering deliverables conform to engineering design and customer specifications. Responsibilities include preparing Bills of Material (BOM), consulting with vendors on project-related activities, and coordinating design criteria with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, material, and planning groups.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop detailed structural drawings based on specifications and work order instructions.
- Ensure design products and engineering deliverables conform to engineering design and customer specifications.
- Prepare Bills of Material (BOM).
- Consult with vendors on project-related activities.
- Coordinate design criteria with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, material, and planning groups, considering ease of manufacture, material availability, and contractual specifications.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of structural design experience within the shipbuilding industry.
Skills and Abilities:
- Proficiency in using AutoCAD and 3D modeling software, particularly Ship Constructor. (Structural & Piping)
- Nupas Cadmatic, Inventor, and CATIA software. (Piping)
- Working knowledge of USCG, ABS, SOLAS, and other government shipbuilding standards (e.g., NVR, NAVSEA, MIL). (Structural)
- Basic computer experience with Microsoft Office products (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook).
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment with minimal supervision.
- Ability to prepare accurate and detailed Bills of Material (BOM).
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
