Drafter Job Description This Drafter position requires exceptional interpersonal, communication, and time management skills, along with the ability to thrive in a team environment. Responsibilities Revise existing drawings and prepare drawings of basic components based on explicit verbal or written instructions or detailed sketches. Successfully plot drawings and learn company and client drafting standards and procedures. Apply client standards for drafting activities. Work with vector and raster drawing files primarily in Autocad and Microstation. Maintain current knowledge of design and drafting procedures. Review all work for completeness and accuracy before submitting for engineering review. Provide an accurate accounting of time spent on projects. Essential Skills Proficiency in Cad, Electrical, Autocad. 0-2 years of experience in drafting. Ability to work daily onsite. Competence in Autocad and Microstation. Additional Skills & Qualifications High school diploma and coursework in drafting technology or specialized CAD certification. Associate’s degree in computer-aided drafting and design is desirable. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Previous internship and/or related consulting experience preferred. Mastery of basic commands in Autodesk Autocad or Bentley Microstation, with occasional use of higher-level commands being a plus. Highly motivated with a strong attention to detail. Ability to handle multiple projects with clear expectations and timelines, and prioritize work effectively. Capability to take direction and work collaboratively with individuals at all levels in the organization in a team environment. Work Environment This role requires working onsite five days a week in Morristown, NJ, primarily in an office environment. The position involves repetitive hand motions, typing using general office equipment, and the ability to sit for extended periods. Communication and collaboration skills are essential in this dynamic work setting.
