Job Title:
AutoCAD Drafter Job Description This position involves working primarily on substation drafting, including P&C wiring, breakers, switches, single/three line diagrams, and physical layouts. The role offers an opportunity for growth beyond drafting, with potential for advancement in the company. Initially, the position includes part-time document controlling duties until a full-time replacement is found. Responsibilities Prepare new drawings and revise existing engineering drawings of basic components from specific sketches or layouts. Adhere to company and client drafting standards and procedures. Follow drafting practices of the selected discipline. Assist in drafting design and documentation for various projects. Utilize standard drafting detail programs. Contribute to continuous drafting detail improvement efforts. Research and present solutions to project concerns. Assist with ad hoc projects as assigned by managers. Perform other duties as assigned. Comply with all company policies. Essential Skills Basic knowledge of commands in at least one CAD program. Basic knowledge and experience in multiple CAD systems, including 3D and BIM. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Ability to work in a collaborative team environment. Basic knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Demonstrated leadership skills. Self-motivated and eager learner with the aptitude to grow and develop within the field. Ability to meet deadlines and budget. Additional Skills & Qualifications AutoCAD, MicroStation, and electrical drafting expertise. Experience drafting heavy P&C wiring, substation components, power plants (including hydro plants), breakers, wires, cabinets, devices, schematics, wiring diagrams, and telecom opportunities. CAD Certificate and Associate Degree in computer-aided drafting/design preferred. Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently without restrictions or need for work sponsorship. Work Environment The position is based locally with an office in Chattanooga. The working hours are 9am to 4pm with a one-hour lunch break, and every other Friday off.
