Job Description
In partnership with our client, a local consulting engineering firm, we are seeking a local Mechanical Project Engineer to support heavy industrial capital projects near Birmingham/Tuscaloosa, AL. Must be local to the Birmingham and Tuscaloosa area. This is a project-based engineering support assignment with an expected duration of 9-12 months with the opportunity to go direct with the client.
Experience Requirement:
5 or more years’ experience of Project Management in Construction and/or Engineering, including cost estimating, on-site construction supervision and management; scheduling and planning; cost controls; implementing and monitoring quality control & safety programs. Under the direction of the Senior Project Engineering. The Mechanical Engineer will work with a Project Engineering Team to review drawings, manage the structural installation and subcontractors.
Responsibilities include the following:
Lead projects in the Mechanical and Civil engineering area oriented to industrial environment. Will be working with multi-discipline engineering team, have internal and external clients and interact with other inter-company departments. Define the scope of supply and prepare technical bid package. Skilled in wording technical specifications related to reinforced concrete foundations, steel structures, soil investigations, roads and site development; evaluation and analysis of bid results. Perform site surveys for water and sewer conversions. Coordinate waste, storm and domestic water activities as well as pump station/grinder pump capacities. Planning and scheduling abilities; budget preparation and management. Comprehension and application of the industry standard codes such as IBC, ACI, AISC, ASCE, CRSI, ADA and OSHA.

AutoCAD Education/Training Requirements:
Bachelor level degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering is highly desired along with 5+ years of proven experience in Civil Engineering in a heavy industrial environment. Applicants without a BS in Engineering must have 10+ years of hands-on applicable heavy industry engineering and capital expansion experience.
