Position Description:
As a
- test engineer
- you will support the testing of space flight and non-space flight hardware for the NASA Environmental Test branch at Marshall Space Flight Center.
The test engineer will:
- Support thermal testing in the environmental test vacuum chambers.
- Support aerodynamic testing in wind tunnel.
- Support fluid dynamics test operations.
- Review test requirements and develop test plans.
- Design/review test facility drawings.
- Configuration control and documentation.
- Review test data.
Job Duties will include:
- Coordination with NASA project level customers across organizations to ensure mission success.
- Work with a diverse team of civil servants and contractors to design, develop, setup, and perform wind tunnel and fluid dynamic.
- Participate in safety meetings, task meetings, design reviews, and test readiness reviews as requested to support ASED and customer requirements.
- Develop and deliver reports and presentations as requested to support ASED and customer requirements via Power Point and other various software packages.
- Perform safety and certification training to support ASED and customer requirements.
- Familiarity with OSHA and ANSI standards.
- Minimum travel required. Basic Qualifications Prefer a BS degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an ABET accredited institution with 0-5 years of applicable experience. The ideal candidate will be an engineer with the following skills:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products such as PowerPoint, Excel and Word are required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
- Experience with thermal-vac testing is a plus.
- Experience with AutoCad, MicroStation, or similar is a plus.
- Experience with wind tunnels, aerodynamics, and Schlieren imaging are a plus.
- Experience with applied fluid dynamics system analysis is a plus.
- Knowledge of ASME Power Piping and Boiler codes are a plus.
