THIS IS A 6 MONTH POSITION WITH POSSIBILITY OF EXTENSION SUMMARY
An ISRU (In-Situ Resource Utilization) engineer specialized in mechanical/electrical design who focuses on the design, development, and integration of systems that utilize resources found on a celestial body, like the Moon or Mars, to support long-duration missions.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge on extracting, processing, and using materials like water ice, regolith, and gases to create life support, construction materials, propellants, and energy.
- Ability to model via computer aided design software such as CAD.
- Ability to perform hands on work to integrate test hardware and electrical components.
- Knowledge of machining and working with design and manufacturing technician interfaces.
- experience working with thermally controlled systems or like “experience with high temperature systems”
- Support testing of thermal and non-thermal chemical conversion systems for resource recovery applications.
- Support data collection and materials analysis for various laboratory projects.
- Support meetings and provide findings to research team members and stakeholders.
- experience with positive pressure and vacuum systems. (ASME BPVC experience preferred)
- able to work utilizing an iterative, hands-on approach to engineering
- experience writing technical papers or publications
- Are a self-starter and require little oversight to complete given tasks
- Enjoy a fast-paced work environment
- Love working with diverse groups of individuals, including engineers and technicians
- Are good at communicating with people
- Hands on experience with laboratory hardware and equipment.
- Proficient in MS Office tools, including Teams, Excel, and OneNote.

- Knowledge of data acquisition systems and electrical or software skills such as Data Acquisition and Controls.
