Description Summary The MRO Engineer supports the Engineering Manager and MRO shop by developing testing and repair solutions for new product capabilities, repairing and maintaining MRO shop equipment, serving as a point of contact for technical support, troubleshooting component issues, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and quality standards. This position requires hands-on experience in aviation maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) environments. This role plays a critical part in expanding the MRO business unit’s capabilities through innovative engineering, technical research Essential Duties and Responsibilities Develop testing and repair solutions based on OEM data and industry standards.
Perform troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective actions on test equipment and aircraft components.
Assist with and lead new capability development projects, including feasibility studies, prototype development, and validation testing.
Create and maintain technical documentation, including work instructions, engineering reports, and capability development packages.
Provide daily technical support to production technicians and quality assurance teams.
Review, interpret, and apply information from OEM manuals, engineering blueprints, schematics (electrical, mechanical, hydraulic), and technical specifications.
Ensure compliance with FAA, AS9110, and ISO9001 requirements.
Support tooling and test equipment design, validation, and calibration processes.
Participate in internal and external audits as technical support.
Report project progress, risks, and resource requirements to the Engineering Manager.
Communicate effectively with internal teams, including Quality, Production, and Sales.
Support continuous improvement activities, process optimization initiatives, and corrective/preventive actions.
Perform Preventive maintenance functions for MRO shop Equipment Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
2-5 years of aviation MRO engineering experience.
Ability to interpret and understand electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic schematics and engineering blueprints.
Proven ability to design, assemble, and validate specialized tooling and test equipment to support MRO operations.
Capable of performing mechanical assembly, maintenance tasks, and lifting equipment and components as needed in support of operational requirements.
Familiarity with regulatory standards (FAA Part 145, AS9110, ISO9001).
Ability to use CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for basic design and drawing updates.
Strong technical writing and communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Desired Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with APUs, landing gear, or flight control systems.
- Proficiency with mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
- Familiarity with FAA Repair Station operations.
- Exposure to Python, LabView, or similar engineering software. Work Environment

- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field
- 5 years of relevant/technical work experience and 5-8 years of leadership experience.
- OR an additional 3 years of specific work experience in lieu of a degree.
Technical Skills:
Demonstrate electrical and mechanical engineering proficiency at the project level in pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical systems, auxiliary power units, landing gear, electro-mechanical, and fuel systems related to aircraft components.
Experience/skills with digital tools to include Python, commercial CAD/CAM software. LabView and similar. Language Skills
- Fluent in English
- Foreign Language skills are desirable
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business information.
