We are seeking a Concrete Design Mix Engineer who is a licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Florida , with the authority to sign and seal concrete mix designs and related technical documentation, and who is fluent in both English and Spanish .

Position Summary:

The Concrete Design Mix Engineer will lead the development, testing, certification, and ongoing refinement of concrete mix designs. This role ensures compliance with all regulatory, performance, and client specifications and plays a critical part in both laboratory and field-based quality control efforts. As the licensed engineer of record, this individual must be able to sign and seal design documents and technical submittals in accordance with Florida Board of Professional Engineers (FBPE) requirements. Additionally, strong bilingual communication skills in English and Spanish are essential to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders across South Florida.

Key Responsibilities:

Design, evaluate, and optimize concrete mixes tailored to structural, durability, workability, and environmental criteria. Sign and seal mix design documentation, technical submittals, and certifications as required for FDOT, public, and private sector projects. Perform or supervise laboratory testing (slump, air content, compressive strength, shrinkage, temperature, etc.). Conduct material compatibility studies (aggregates, cement, SCMs, admixtures) and troubleshoot field performance issues. Ensure all mix designs and materials conform to applicable codes and specifications:

ACI, ASTM, FDOT, AASHTO

, and project-specific guidelines. Prepare mix submittal packages and technical reports for client and regulatory review. Serve as technical liaison between internal operations, field teams, third-party labs, and external stakeholders. Maintain documentation of mix performance, test results, and revisions in a traceable and auditable format. Support quality assurance programs and participate in internal/external audits as needed. Communicate effectively in both English and Spanish with multicultural teams and clients. Stay current with emerging trends in sustainable and performance-based concrete design.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Materials Engineering, or related field. Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Florida , with ability to sign and seal concrete mix designs and technical documentation. Minimum 3 years of experience in concrete mix design and quality control, including familiarity with mobile batching systems and South Florida materials. Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (both written and verbal). In-depth understanding of material science, admixture systems, and performance-based mix design. Familiarity with FDOT requirements and submittal processes. Proficiency with lab equipment and testing procedures; experience with batching systems (e.g., Command Alkon or Jonel) is a plus. Strong written and verbal communication skills in both languages. ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I (active or obtained within 90 days). FDOT QC Technician certification (preferred).

Work Conditions:

Based in South Florida with field visits to job sites, labs, and mobile batch plants. Must be able to work in indoor labs and outdoor construction environments. Early starts and occasional weekend or overtime work based on project demands.
