HVAC Design Engineer Overview:
Career opportunity with established consulting engineering firm in southeastern Florida. The successful candidate should have the ability to provide mechanical (HVAC) design support services on a variety of residential and commercial projects for new buildings, and for renovations and additions to existing facilities. Under the direction of the Project Manager, the Mechanical Designer will actively participate in many phases of a project, including but not limited to: load & energy calculations, CAD production, design documents, basic specifications, and the construction administration process.
Primary Responsibilities:
Preparing conceptual designs based on client’s requirements. Participating in client meetings & maintain positive client relationships. Developing final construction documents from established concept designs or design development drawings. Prioritizing and scheduling assignments with the Project Manager to completed projects on time. Interfacing with other disciplines for coordination of project designs. Performing Heat Load Calculations, Energy Calculations, Outside Air Calculations, Equipment selection, pipe & duct sizing, friction loss calculations and specifications related to HVAC systems. Conducting site visits to observe existing conditions (pre-design) and construction document compliance (post-design). Reviewing and responding to RFI’s and shop drawing submittals.
Requirements:
3-5+ years of experience related to Mechanical design of buildings. Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering. Be proficient with computer-generated HVAC design load analysis (HAP) and Energy Compliance Calculations (Florida Energy Gauge). Be proficient with Building, Energy & Mechanical codes and Energy Compliance. Excellent engineering design, organizational, people and communication skills. Ability to schedule and execute multiple tasks. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports. Ability to meet fast-paced deadlines while maintaining quality design. Have AutoCAD experience. Have Revit experience. Have problem solving ability. Be fluent in English, both verbally and in writing. Be mature and self-motivated.
