Design Engineer Position Available In Berkshire, Massachusetts

Job Summary:

The Design Engineer is responsible for the development of2D and 3D files, drawings, layouts of vehicle parts and assemblies. Thisposition requires independence in resolving design challenges andnon-routine drawing assignments.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Createdesigns for metal fabricated parts and assemblies using SolidWorks 3D.
• Create full truck models and related documentation for the productiondept.
• Create drawings for external vendors for the purpose ofmachining or fabricating.
• Effectively manage files using PDMsoftware.
• Effectively work independently in a team environment whilemanaging multiple projects of varying degrees of urgency andcomplexity.
• Collaborate with members of production staff to reviewdesigns and resolve manufacturing concerns.
• Complete department ECR’s(engineering change request) as assigned to repair/modify currentdesigns or drawings.
• Assist in the creation and maintenance of billsof material for manufactured and purchased parts.
• Assist inimprovement of standard operating procedures, safety, quality control,and training.
• Assist and implement prosses improvement via design andmanufacturing improvement techniques.
• Carry our daily projectmanagement and problem resolution.

ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Filemanagement using ERP system.
• Other duties as assigned

INTERACTIONWITH

• Various levels of internal staff within a variety ofdepartments.
• Customer and vendor interaction.
• Production, Sales andPurchasing Departments

EXPERIENCE

• Five (5) plus years mechanicalbackground
• Three (3) plus years in a manufacturing environment

EDUCATION

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, IndustrialTechnology, or related Engineering field

CERTIFICATIONS

• Validdriver’s license

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Strong experiencewith SolidWorks.
• Knowledge of GD&T.
• Efficient with Microsoft desktopapplications (i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Ability to handlemultiple projects while maintaining scheduled deadlines.

PHYSICALDEMANDS

• Must be able to pass physical exam
• Ability to lift aminimum of 50 lbs.
• Must be able to climb into, onto and undervehicle
• Extended periods of sitting, standing, bending, squatting, andkneeling
• Must be able to climb into, onto and under vehicle
• Vision aminimum 20/40 with or without corrective lenses
• Good hearing
