Mechanical Design Engineer Job Description We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will design and update mechanical 3D and 2D parts and assemblies, review and provide feedback to junior engineers, and manage the Bill of Materials (BOM) for assigned projects. The role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and meet performance specifications. Additionally, the candidate will develop product quotes, support cost analysis, and maintain project documentation using PDM and ERP systems. Responsibilities Design and update mechanical 3D and 2D parts and assemblies. Review and provide feedback to work from junior engineers. Manage and maintain the Bill of Materials (BOM) for assigned projects, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Develop product quotes and support cost analysis for new projects. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and meet performance specifications. Work with PDM (Product Data Management) and ERP systems to maintain project documentation and track product lifecycle. Apply GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) standards in design and technical documentation. Write and review technical reports, providing clear and concise documentation for internal and external stakeholders. Essential Skills Minimum of 5+ years of professional experience (not including academic experience). High proficiency in SolidWorks (3D CAD modeling) and related design tools. Experience with PDM and ERP systems for managing product data and workflows. Hands-on experience with aluminum, welding, and machining processes. Familiarity with CNC, lathe, and laser cutting equipment. Solid understanding and application of GD&T standards. Experience writing detailed technical reports and documentation. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications Professional experience in programming CNC machines is a plus. Experience with marine equipment design, including an understanding of relevant standards and materials used in the marine industry, is a plus. Work Environment You will work in a dynamic environment that involves the use of advanced design tools and manufacturing techniques, including CNC, lathe, and laser cutting. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential, and maintaining accurate project documentation through PDM and ERP systems is a key part of the role.
