Job Title:

Advanced Mechanical Analysis Engineer•Undersea Systems Mix of Hybrid & Onsite work with some travel in the US about 20%

Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Advanced Mechanical Analysis Engineer to join our Undersea Mission Systems team. In this role, you will your mechanical engineering expertise and advanced simulation skills to design and analyze mission-critical hardware operating in some of the world’s most demanding undersea environments. Your contributions will directly impact the performance, survivability, and reliability of next-generation naval platforms. This position is ideal for candidates who are proficient in ANSYS, have experience in mechanical simulation and structural analysis, and are comfortable working across cross-functional teams in a fast-paced defense environment. Experience with naval systems and leadership or mentoring is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform advanced structural, thermal, and dynamic analyses using ANSYS and MATLAB to guide hardware design and validate performance. Develop and maintain finite element models simulating real-world load conditions, including shock, vibration, and environmental stress. Evaluate compliance with military and naval specifications, including Shock Grade B, MIL-STD-22, TP-1688, and

NAVSEA 278.

expertise in materials engineering and metallurgy for selection and assessment of submarine-grade components. Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams including design, manufacturing, and program leadership to influence design decisions throughout the product lifecycle. Generate, review, and interpret mechanical CAD models and engineering drawings Participate in design reviews, trade studies, and root cause investigations. Author and present detailed technical reports, analysis documentation, and briefings. Support the resolution of manufacturing issues related to structural integrity, fabrication, and assembly. Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance on best practices in mechanical analysis and simulation.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline. Proven experience in Mechanical analysis and simulation using ANSYS and MATLAB. Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, including welds, joints, and structural optimization. Excellent communication and documentation skills, with ability to convey complex concepts clearly. Job Requirements Required Skills /

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Science or Engineering or Mathematics.
Minimum of 5 years of experience with ANSYS and MATLAB analysis tools, and ability to train others on these tools. Preferred Skills /

Qualifications:

Master’s Degree.
Good knowledge of material specifications and metallurgy, especially regarding submarine requirements.
Knowledge of weld types (MIL-STD-22) and processes (TP-1688 and 278).
Good proficiency with modeling CAD tools, especially Creo, to create mechanical models and drawings.
Extensive knowledge of manufacturing and fabrication methods and technical, government, and industry standards.
Collaborative, creative thinker with experience leading complex projects.
Good communication skills with the ability to write technical papers and proposals.
