SUMMARY:
We are looking for a skilled Senior Design Engineer to join the Qorvo Automotive Connectivity Business Unit (ACBU). This person will be responsible for the development of innovative products for the automotive market based on Qorvo’s advanced semiconductor and packaging technologies. In this role, you will both develop custom integrated circuits for applications unique to the Automotive space as well as evaluate and modify existing solutions to meet Automotive reliability requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Work with engineering and marketing managers to define product requirements
Create and execute product development plans including design, simulation, layout, and verification testing
Work with cross-functional team members to bring products from conception to full production release
Perform detailed
RFIC/MMIC
design and simulation for telematic applications in the Automotive space with an emphasis on core RF functions such as PAs, LNAs, and RF switches and their integration into multi-chip modules.
Perform detailed evaluation of existing Si die, GaAs die and module designs to assess the feasibility of supporting Automotive temperature and lifetime requirements and propose modifications. Redesign or rework these products to meet Automotive requirements by modifying die or modules, completing simulations, implementing layouts, and conducting appropriate design reviews
Characterize, verify, and debug the design through lab measurements.
Understand, reinforce, and improve design best practices, reviews, and other product line design processes.
Generate and maintain detailed documentation including specifications, FMEAs, assembly drawings, BOMs, design, and compliance reviews.
Support projects throughout the product development lifecycle with product prototypes and samples, data and design summaries, application circuit recommendations, and analysis of field failures.
REQUIREMENTS
BSEE with >8 years of experience or MSEE with >4 years of experience or PHD with > 0-2 years of experience Track record of successfully designing and releasing to production state-of-the-art RFIC/MMICs and front-end modules
Experience in the design of
RFIC/MMIC
front-end modules in several of the following areas: analog circuit blocks, PAs, switches, LNAs, phase shifters, attenuators, couplers, transmission lines, lumped element filters, bias circuit, control circuits, and their integration into higher-level functions.
Design experience in one or more of the following technologies: HBT, pHEMT, SiGe, SOI, CMOS, BAW, SAW, and laminates.
Hands-on laboratory work experience including RF tuning and testing using network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and other RF test equipment.
Experienced with standard
RFIC EDA
tools such as Keysight ADS, Cadence Virtuoso, and AWR Microwave Office using both linear and non-linear simulations techniques
Experienced with one or more of the following 2.5D or 3D EM simulation tools: Momentum, HFSS, FEM, or EMX.
Familiarity with common communication standards such as 4G LTE, 5G NR, WiFi, V2X, and DSRC is a plus.
Familiarity with common electronic failure modes and reliability models is a plus.
Ability to effectively communicate ideas and progress status in presentations and written reports.
