Job Summary:

Accountable for providingstructural, mechanical, and piping (SMP) engineering and designsupport in both High Purity Quartz and Glass Recycling Americas.

Designs shall be safe, operable, economical, and environmentallysound. The candidate will provide technical guidance fortroubleshooting and problem solving when issues arise withtechnical designs during engineering, construction, and start-up.

Responsible for strategic development of programs and initiatives,which improve long-term improvement in facilities, infrastructure,and project delivery as these relate to SMP. Â

Responsibilities:

• Provide discipline design expertise directly and throughoversight of third-party contractors during  front-end developmentto assure SMP designs achieve project objectives & client siteexpectations,  when influence is highest. Â
• Provide guidance andoversight during detailed design, construction, and start-upactivities. Â
• SMP subject matter reviewer of project estimates,project schedules, project design basis, Â engineeringdeliverables, and contractor selections during front-end loadingand execution. Â
• Develops, reviews, and maintains SMP regionaldesign, procurement, and construction requirements. Â
• Ensuresdesign and construction comply with local, regional, national andSibelco standards. Â
• Provide quality surveillance plans forfabricated equipment construction. Â
• Identify opportunities forcontinuous improvement and development of proven solutions thatimprove  the eUiciency, quality, and speed of the disciplinedesign process. Â
• Collaborate routinely with engineering anddesign teams from other regions to share learnings, Â standarddesigns, and to develop a unified approach to deliver engineering.Â
• Assess readiness level of the SMP activities and deliverablesat formal project gates. Â
• Execute and or support SMP safetyincident reviews and root cause analysis as required. Â
• Own thetechnical content in the SMP technical standards.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering Â
• 15 years ofexperience in the Mining/Minerals/Metals, Refining, Chemicals,Pharma/Biotech, or  similar industrial with progressivedemonstration of delivering the SMP function on projects. Â
• Preferred experience is a balance of time in oUice as well asfield. Â
• Expert in reading, developing, and maintaining SMPcritical documentation such as P&IDs, equipment  datasheets,plot plans, arrangement drawings, piping design, 3D models, lists(equipment, line, and  specialty) etc., including development ofadvanced construction work packaging. Â
• Demonstrated experiencein developing equipment datasheets, specifications, preparing RFQ Âpackages, reviewing technical bid evaluations, reviewing vendorsupplied design documents – such  as fabrication drawings andcalculations for pumps, vessels, heat exchangers, storage tanks, Âcalciners, crystallizers, centrifuges, and solids and dust handlingequipment, such as hoppers,  calciners, kilns, conveyers, sorters,dryers, crushers, baghouses, etc.

• Familiarity with commondiscipline design software and/or calculation and analysis tools(Pressure  vessel design, pipe stress analysis, storage tankdesign, pump sizing/selection, civil structural stress  analysis).Â
• Knowledge of the latest applicable codes, regulations, and bestpractices related to SMP design, Â fabrication, and constructionincluding but not limited to: ISO, API, ASME, NBIC, AWS, NACE,NFPA, Â PIP, OSHA, MSHA, and NEC Â
• Excellent Computer skills -Word, Excel, AutoCAD, Outlook, and SharePoint. Â
• Ability totravel 25% routinely and up to 50% depending on current location. Â
• Preference for position to be located in Spruce Pine N.
