Job Description:
TheMechanical Design & Controls Engineer is responsible for performingdesign engineering for multiple product lines of machineryincluding both rotating mechanical machines and non-rotating fluidenergy machines. The Company wants a Mechanical Design Engineer whohas some experience working with Electrical Controls (i.e.,understands schematics for controls panels, wiring diagrams,P&IDs, sensors, etc. There is no new electrical design work).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Deal with existing machineconcepts and make modifications to meet customer space, capacity,environmental, and process material requirements. Perform all workwithin the framework, of company’s design/drafting standards andprocedures. Maintain high product quality and accuracy in alldocumentation. Use CAD technology in the most efficient waypossible to produce complete design documentation suitable forsubcontract manufacture. Knowledge of Solidworks 3D software andAutocad 2D software preferred. General Engineering to includesizing and selecting technical components, performing engineeringcalculations, and keeping good records. Provide Project Engineeringservices for assigned projects Involves customer contact. Interfacewith vendors to provide technical purchase specifications forsubcontracted control equipment. Maintain a project schedule andresolve any conflicts that may arise due to customer changes,material shortages, etc. Create Process & Instrumentation Diagrams(P&I D) and learn/understand Instrumentation Symbols (ISA).Perform control system electrical test and inspection either at thecompany’s facilities or at the vendors plant and resolve anydiscrepancies with the subcontractor. Occasional local travel tocustomer’s or vendor’s facilities as required. Maintain goodworking relations with all personnel inside and outside of thecompany. Other Duties as required.
Requirements:
- U.S. Citizen orGreen Card.
- 5 years of experience dealing with the same or similarequipment and industries.
- Work experience with general industrialelectric controls. Experience with sensors is a “plus”.
- BS inMechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent is preferred butnot required. .
- Proficient with Solidworks 3D software. Other 3DCAD software may be considered, but Solidworks 3D is preferred.
- Experience in AutoCad 2D is preferred, or at least a strongknowledge of it.
- Experience with Microsoft office is preferred.
- Developed interpersonal skills and mature approach to theworkplace.
