Project Engineer

Job Title:
Project Engineer
Responsibilities:
- Review drawings, specifications, sales input, RFQ sheet, contact customer to review and determine quote requirements to provide an estimate.
- Interface with vendors to source raw materials.
- Negotiate with vendors to get the best cost possible.
- Work with customers and quality control to establish acceptable part tolerances.
- Develop tooling layout drawings using AutoCAD or equivalent software and work with machine shop to develop tooling cost.
- Develop packaging/ layout drawing for quoting.
- Formulate estimation worksheet using Excel to include material cost, hours, and other costs as needed for the project.
- Prepare quotes and discuss with sales/engineering/management as required, submit to customer. Issue quotes that are competitive, profitable and on time.
- Review quotes with customers as required.
- Provide technical assistance/support to customers and the sales department as required.
- Determine quote lead times.
- Work with production/customer service to communicate delivery schedules to customers. Work with production to work through schedules to assure on-time shipments.
- Help to resolve discrepancies between quotes and actual build cost, by collecting and analyzing information (Material cost, usage, labor rates) to help keep project within quoted cost. Adjust quote as required.
- Develop build sheets to include bill of materials, process steps, labor rates, for manufacturing.
- Report weekly updates on current projects and/or delays in quoting as part of our team meeting.
- Work closely with the SolidWorks design engineer to provide customer input for package design, under ISO/GMP procedures and associated quality management system.
- Work with the machine shop to design and implement jigs and fixtures to aid in manufacturing and reduce labor costs.
- Assist in new package development launch.
- Manage project milestones for CNPI.
- Develop and implement procedures to provide easy to follow instructions.
- Support quality control to conduct customer complaint investigations.
- Participate in and provide training for equipment.
- Work with quality control to execute validation studies on equipment (IQ, OQ, PQ), processes, and sterile packaging.
- Occasional travel to suppliers, customers, and shows.
- Occasionally attend industry shows. Provide sales and technical support.
- Perform and complete other tasks as assigned.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in related engineering discipline required.
- At least five years of experience in project management, engineering, systems design, or another related field.
- AutoCAD experience. Experience with SolidWorks a plus.
- Valid Driver’s License.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift 25 pounds.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
