R D EngineerNew York, NYResponsibilities:
Work as a member of the Innovation Department with existing and new products and platforms. Support the product development team in the development and scale up of new formulas, formula changes, and product changes. Work on projects from concept to commercialization, working closely with the Innovation, Operation, Marketing, and Quality teams. Develop products for the food industry, including developing specifications for new products based on critical sensory and nutritional attributes and testing, and scaling up existing food products. Research and improve food taste, texture, quality, safety through process changes. Perform studies on fermentation and straining/texturizing to improve production quality and efficiency. Develop scalable process flow and scale up in a manufacturing environment, create benchtop and prototype samples, develop Standard Operating Procedures, and conduct operation training. Build and maintain relationships with external resources, including suppliers and co-manufacturers, and ensure compliance with standard laboratory practices, including record keeping and data analysis.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a related field plus two (2) years of experience with product development/R D in a food manufacturing company. Experience must include two (2) years each of the following: developing, testing, analyzing, scaling up, and commercializing food products; process improvement work in a manufacturing environment; creating benchtop and pilot plant samples; perform process modeling and develop/optimize SOPs; laboratory practices including record keeping, inventory management, CIP/COP, and general equipment maintenance; experience in consumer-packaged goods (CPG) industry; process engineering; equipment commissioning; process and data analysis; and laboratory and pilot plant experience. Experience may be gained concurrently.
