Duties
- Design and develop production equipment to manufacture wire harness products customized to meet the needs of customers in order to automate, monitor, and control automotive systems (e.g., Electronic Power Steering systems, Anti-Lock Braking systems, etc.) for safe operation of the vehicle
- Create mechanical designs of special equipment to produce customized wire harness systems that meet customer needs
- Ensure that the production equipment manufactures products that achieve quality standards and comply with customer specifications
- Develop, program, test, and validate manufacturing lines that produce wire harness systems for the automotive industry
- Design and develop programs for Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Human Machine Interface (HMI) to monitor and control production equipment
- Design and develop electronic and pneumatic schematics for production equipment to manufacture wire harness products
- Design and develop internal networks to communicate with production equipment for the manufacture of wire harness products
- Design and develop internal networks to communicate with the production equipment (Modbus TCP/IP, Modbus RTU, Profinet, I/O Link, and RS232) to manufacture wire harness products
- Design and develop equipment to cut and strip cables for high voltage harnesses
- Design and develop equipment to assemble harnesses for high voltage systems
- Design and develop equipment to test harnesses using high voltage specifications
- Apply knowledge of wire harness products, engineering, manufacturing processes, and quality standards to ensure that objectives and deadlines of projects to develop production equipment are achieved
