Job Description

This position has oversight of a specific area, and acts as a representative to the department ensuring technical accuracy in project execution in all phases. This is the Lead position on assigned projects or performs engineering assignments of any complexity.
- Develop and review estimates and schedules, progress reports, including workforce forecasts
- Establish, track, and monitor material key quantities; provide analysis and forecasts
- Develop and review specifications, including design criteria
- Participate in activities associated with equipment and material procurement, permitting, and subcontracting
- Perform and check calculations, specify equipment, and solve problems of difficult engineering complexity
- Provide guidance/supervision to other leads and function as mentor to less experienced engineers or engineering specialists including performance appraisal input and counseling
- Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity in accordance with organization and/or project objectives and guidelines
- Other duties as assigned
- Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and sixteen (16) years of work-related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to twenty (20) years if non-degreed; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements
- Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
- Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
- Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
- Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
- Membership in technical society
- Advanced knowledge of discipline codes and standards, commercial availability and cost of materials
- Effort-hour estimating and staff forecasting
- Managing and leading a large project
- Project set-up, developing control-level schedules, progress reporting and project close-out
- Practical field experience
- Intermediate computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet and electronic presentation programs
- Membership in technical society
- Advanced knowledge of discipline codes and standards, commercial availability and cost of materials
- Effort-hour estimating and staff forecasting
- Managing and leading a large project

- Make decisions and provide direction based on determining the best path for Engineering on the project to drive project success when an impasse is reached in layout & design, considering: o Inputs from multiple disciplines o Inputs from multiple design agencies o Inputs from the project Design Authority o Inputs from Project Controls and Construction regarding schedule needso Inputs from Field Engineering for impacts to work being planned/stage or actively executed o Inputs from Title III Engineering o Inputs from multiple sub-contractors• Provide status to Engineering Management regarding design development, particularly regarding clash areas and items with conflicting designs• Success in this role is when design/modeling and production of Engineering deliverables proceeds in a way that supports the project engineering schedule and the project construction schedule unimpeded by design clashes and conflicts (i.
e. if there are schedule issues, then they are not being caused by clashes / conflicts)
- A key function of this role is ensuring that a single clear direction is given where conflict exists in layouts, arrangements, and designs that are being worked concurrently amongst multiple disciplines, design agencies, and Design Authority
- Scope and develop Construction Work Packages, coordinating inputs from multiple disciplines, construction, field Engineering, and other stakeholders, including tagging of documents to Work Packages and creation of work packages
- Other duties as assigned
- Expected engagement varies from 20 to 40 hours per week
