Mechanical Project Engineer Job Description Responsible for designing material handling equipment such as conveyor belts and other machinery. You will receive specific requirements from the facility and be tasked with designing solutions, which may include adding capacity, retrofitting areas for new equipment, or rearranging existing equipment within the facility. You will also be responsible for determining site layouts and developing the scope of work for projects. Writing RFPs, collaborating with vendors for site selection, and working on engineering design and project handoff to execution are key components of this role. Responsibilities Design material handling equipment, such as conveyor belts and machinery. Receive and interpret specific requirements from facilities to design solutions. Enhance site capacity, retrofit areas for new equipment, and rearrange existing equipment. Determine layouts and develop the scope of work for projects. Write RFPs and collaborate with vendors for site selection. Engage in engineering design and handoff to execution. Travel up to 50% for site visits and assessments. Essential Skills Hands-on design experience in a manufacturing setting. Project management skills with a strong design experience. Proficiency in AutoCAD and Solidworks. Bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical, industrial, electrical, manufacturing). 5-7 years of experience in manufacturing/industrial designs. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in equipment or machine design, including electromechanical equipment. Experience with automation, material handling, conveyor systems, and material flow. Understanding of upstream/downstream changes within systems engineering. Work Environment This role operates on a hybrid schedule with three days in the office and two days remote. Initially, you may be required to work five days a week to integrate with the team. The position is an 11-month contract with the potential for full-time conversion or extension. The work environment includes great pay, stock benefits, and health benefits when permanent.
