Role Summary/Purpose The successful candidates will perform physical and chemical inspections including; Fluorescent Penetrant, Radiography utilizing Digital Detector Array (DDA) and Computed Tomography (CT) inspections on various types of aircraft parts and assemblies (Machined and as cast surfaces). Handle parts, denote non-conformances and document and reject parts as required. Airfoils and flow path hardware Associated specifications are P3TF47 Class A & D with limits defined in T -051 and AUB SOP General FPI – Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection. With acceptability limits defined per the print Perform physical inspections utilizing: Digital Radiography on machined and as cast surfaces in
HPT & LPT
Airfoils. Associated specifications are P3TF38 with limits defined in AUB SOP General DXR -Digital X- Ray Inspection utilizing Digital Detector Array (DDA / CT). With acceptability limits defined per the print Set up and perform such tests per the Auburn NDT procedures and analyze NDT data per associated client’s quality requirements Collect, interpret and evaluate the data relative to engineering or project requirements Inspect, evaluate and document process results Maintain chemicals utilized for tests at proper levels as required Maintain chemicals utilized for tests within the expiration period as required Test, evaluate and maintain control panels as required Clean parts before / after inspection as required by process Clean up any chemical run off associated with the inspection processes Must be Level II certified and must maintain Level II certification per NAS 410 for each NDT method Maintain Current annual Eye Exam per NAS 410 as necessary for each NDT method Train and mentor candidates to become Level I certified in fluorescent penetrant, and Digital Radiography with a plan to become Level II certified thereafter May be required to do minor maintenance on equipment Associates will comply with all local Auburn Plant EHS practices Qualifications/Requirements AA Degree or Post Secondary Education certification and / or a minimum of 2 years prior work experience in a manufacturing operation or equivalent military experience with Non Destructive Testing Must have basic computer skills and ability to use computers, on-line applications, Digital image inspections and the MSOffice Suite of tools Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and communicate effectively Documented training hours for Level 1 / 2 per NAS 410 requirements NAS 410 Certifiable to Level 2 for FPI (PT) and Radiography (RT) Ability to read and interpret blueprint and engineering drawings and be able to document non conformances as required Prior experience with NDE in a manufacturing process work environment
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
: Must pass OJT Exams per NAS 410 Candidates must successfully complete internal training and an exam on fundamentals of each process (fluorescent penetrant, Digital Radiography) Operator required to stand 90% of the time Operator must have the ability to stoop, bend and reach and stretch (awkward positioning may also be necessary) Desired Characteristics Manufacturing inspection environment using Digital
