Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) to join our team and ensure all welding activities and completed welds meet applicable codes, standards, and customer specifications. This role involves conducting inspections, reviewing welding procedures, overseeing welder qualifications, and maintaining documentation throughout the fabrication or construction process.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform visual inspections of welds and joints per AWS/EN standards or other applicable codes. Review and approve Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welder Performance Qualifications (WPQ) . Monitor welding processes to ensure adherence to approved procedures and safety standards. Identify welding defects and recommend corrective actions . Maintain detailed inspection records and generate reports for internal and external stakeholders. Collaborate with production, quality, and engineering teams to resolve welding-related issues. Ensure material traceability and compliance with fabrication specifications. Participate in customer and third-party audits/inspections as required. Support continuous improvement efforts to enhance welding quality and process efficiency. Calibrate and properly use inspection tools , including gauges, micrometers, calipers, and NDT equipment.

Qualifications:
Education:

Current AWS Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) certification ( Required ) High school diploma or GED ( Required ) Associate or technical degree in Welding Technology or a related field ( Preferred )

Experience:

Minimum 5 years in welding inspection or quality control in a manufacturing setting Strong knowledge of welding codes/standards such as AWS D1.1 and D1.5 Experience with visual inspection and familiarity with NDT methods (PT, MT, UT, RT) preferred Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and weld maps Proficient with fillet weld gauges, micrometers, and calipers Experience with ISO 9001 or other quality management systems Macro-etching experience is a plus

Interpersonal & Technical Skills:

Strong communication, documentation, and reporting abilities Team-oriented with the ability to work cross-functionally Basic knowledge of CMM inspection Proficient in Microsoft Office, ERP systems , and documentation tools Detail-oriented and committed to maintaining high quality standards
