As an authority on Survivability Engineering, you will be the technical team lead on applying hardening techniques in the development of the Next Generation Interceptor (NGI) missile.
This job will include the following responsibilities:
- Technical authority on Nuclear Hardness and Survivability techniques
- Guiding and mentoring junior survivability engineers in lex survivability engineering tasks
- Be the primary technical advisor/consultant in survivability for program leadership and customers
- Ensure that the military-grade missile and space vehicle designs perform during and after exposure to natural and manmade radiation from the onent through system levels
- Use modeling techniques in the classified environment for radiation transport calculations, assess persistent man-made environments, determine sensor performance, and assess overall system level survivability.
- Conduct technical planning, specification derivation, test planning and implementation, documentation, verification/validation to support overall system needs and act as a technical consultant for design teams and customers.
- Work with LM Space Enterprise Survivability Engineering group and other internal leading subject matter experts and mentor rising engineering talent on NGI and across Space.
Successful applicants will typically possess 14+ years of professional experience with a minimum education level of a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field
Desired skills - 14+ years experience in Natural Space and Nuclear/Manmade Radiation Environments, or design hardness
- Rad Hard Space semiconductor or system hardening experience
- Specialist in Radiation software tools (e.g. NOVICE, FASTRAD, Srim/Trim, Novice/Geant4, Creme96, Creme-mc, Shieldose, Spenvis, Omere, Ap8/Ap8, and Ap9/Ae9)
- Significant experience with piece-part radiation testing, performance, and reliability
- Recognized as an authority in systems thinking techniques with the demonstrated ability to apply them to a wide range of sophisticated problems and train others in their application
- Ability to lead multi-functional teams and lead multiple teams to unicate and coordinate work as one team with on goals
- Advanced degree in a related subject area
- Active DoD secret clearance

Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Washington or Washington DC is $122,900 – $216,660. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
