Nuclear Safety Engineer/Analyst (Entry/Junior Level)

Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Nuclear Safety Engineer/Analyst (Entry/Junior Level) opportunity to join our nationwide team.
Work Location:
Oak Ridge, TN Major Duties/Responsibilities:
Entry level position to assist Edgewater’s Nuclear Safety & Criticality organization in developing nuclear safety analysis work products supporting licensing, design basis, and operability of non-reactor nuclear, nuclear power, and fuel cycle facilities managed by the Department of Energy and Nuclear Regulatory Commission, including performing radiological, thermal-hydraulic, chemical, and environmental assessments of new and existing plants, structures, systems, and components. Successful candidate will work with experienced analysts to become proficient and qualified in the following task areas:
- Performing initial and final hazard categorization and classification in accordance with DOE-STD-1027-2018, Hazard Categorization of DOE Nuclear Facilities
- Developing hazard identifications, hazard analyses, accident analyses, and controls in accordance with 10 CFR 830, Nuclear Safety Management, and DOE-STD-3009-2014, Preparation of Nonreactor Nuclear Facility Documented Safety Analysis
- Developing and maintaining the content of Documented Safety Analyses (or equivalent) and Technical Safety Requirements
- Performing Unreviewed Safety Question process evaluations in accordance with 10 CFR 830, Nuclear Safety Management
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree in Nuclear Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Computational skills.
Technical capabilities and keen desire to learn.
