Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking an experienced optical engineer to significantly contribute to the development and testing of several laser systems. The position will include interfacing with, setting up, and maintaining custom laser systems and the development of automated fiber tests. EDUCATION and
EXPERIENCE
Advanced degree (BS or MS) in Optics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related field is preferred
5+ years of working in a manufacturing and/or R D environment
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
(Preferred qualifications, certifications, and/or licenses) Experience with free space optics systems
Experience with Class 4 Lasers
Optical fiber manufacturing or testing experience is a plus
Programming experience is a plus
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Participate in the departmental safety team to complete safety improvement initiatives.
Set-up, maintenance and troubleshooting of several Class 4 lasers
Develop free space optical systems to customize laser delivery to achieve product target product performance
Work with R D and QC Engineering to develop automated fiber tests for new products
Report on complex technical topics and create work instructions for operations and technicians
Be a strong team player with openness and willingness to contribute toward group goals and achievements
Perform other related duties as required to meet project and organizational needs, including engagement with night shift personnel.

Proficiency in data analysis, experimental design, and process optimization methods
Analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex process challenges and defects
Collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams and global partners.
Excellent technical writing and presentation skills for communicating research findings and process updates
Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
