Module Advanced Development Sr Electrical Optical Engineer Allentown, PA Job Description:

We seek a highly skilled and motivated Electrical Optical Engineer to join the Optical Module Group in Allentown, PA for the development of next generation high speed optical engines. The electrical optical engineer is responsible for electrical and control designs, and design verification tests of high speed transmit/receive optical assembly (TROSA) for next generation coherent transceivers. The position requires multitasking and interfacing with multiple engineering groups in multiple geographic locations. The successful candidate should have a solid understanding of optoelectronic devices, and hands-on experience with designing and testing small form factor optical assemblies for high-volume manufacturing Responsibilities Part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team working on next generation optical transceiver products: electrical, firmware, optics, signal integrity, mechanical, and process engineers. Review, evaluate, and response to product requirements Characterize prototype TROSA electrical functions, control loops, and high-speed electrooptic responses Model and measure high frequency signal coupling in transceiver devices and modules, provide mitigation solutions Model and measure EMI noise susceptibility of control circuits and optical elements Primary engineering interface with PIC, ASIC, and transceiver electrical and firmware designers for module integration Requirements M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or related discipline Demonstrated ability to initiate, prioritize, and drive projects to completion Ability to effectively communicate ideas, concepts, and results to both highly technical and non-technical co-workers Ability to function independently as well as in a team environment In-depth understanding/intuition of electrical engineering solutions to power, noise, control, thermal, high-speed integrity and EMI design requirements Experience in microprocessors and real-time controls Hands-on experience with characterizing and troubleshooting high-speed coherent optical devices and modules using various lab equipment such as OSA, wave analyzers, real-time scopes, network analyzer, and etc. Demonstrated proficiency in characterization and automated testing of optoelectronic devices Programming experiences in MATLAB, Python, VB.net, or similar for automation of instrument control and data acquisition.
